The Commerce Council’s overall mandate is to identify, consider, make proposals and act as needed regarding issues of concern to the business members of the Chamber and to the business community generally.

Tourism Council

Chair: Vacant

The Tourism Council’s overall mandate is to identify, consider, make proposals and act as needed regarding tourism development and promotion issues of concern to the community, and to help tourism-oriented Chamber members to better develop, promote and market their product and services.  

Arts Council

Chair: Glen Foster

The Arts Council’s overall mandate is to identify, consider, make proposals and act as needed regarding issues of concern to the arts community.

Community Council

Chair: Hélène Giroux

The Community Council’s overall mandate is to identify, consider, make proposals and act as needed regarding issues of concern to the community as a whole.  It will provide a dynamic and focused community forum for discussion and action for Wakefield and area citizens and community- and volunteer-based organisations in order to harness ideas, expertise, leadership and capacity in identifying and accomplishing community-driven initiatives.

Events Committee

The Events Committee’s overall mandate is to organize and promote social networking events for Chamber members and occasionally the community as a whole.

Governance Committee

Chair: Vacant

The Governance Committee’s overall mandate is to advise the Board on governance issues generally, and specifically to develop effective and transparent policies and procedures that support the mission and goals of the Chamber.  

Membership Committee

Chair: Jessica Harris

The Membership Committee’s overall mandate is to lead member recruitment efforts and to maintain documents relating to membership.  

Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Committee

Chair: Vacant

The Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Committee’s overall mandate is to establish a harmonious relationship between the Municipality of La Pêche and the Chamber, and to monitor and advise on urban development matters to ensure appropriate and sustainable community development.  It will coordinate the provision of information on municipal issues of potential concern to Chamber members or the community at large and, where warranted, coordinate advocacy efforts.  It will act as a liaison with other Board committees on programs and initiatives of the Municipality of interest to them.

 

 Advisory Group

The Chamber has also established a separate advisory group of esteemed members who will meet occasionally.  The Chamber Advisory Group’s mandate is to offer advice and support on matters of interest to the Board.  It will complement the knowledge and skills of the Board, contribute to the effective governance of the Chamber and strengthen relationships within the community.  The Advisory Group has no legal responsibilities.  It exists to give advice and recommendations to the Board or staff.
