Wakefield Parking Task Force Report

The Commerce Council of the Chamber has formed a task force to study the problem of finding adequate parking in Wakefield village.  Visitors and residents alike experience difficulty finding places to park near their destination when they visit the village core.  This is not only inconvenient and frustrating, but has an adverse effect on business, tourism and development in Wakefield.  The Task Force has now completed its draft report setting out an exhaustive list of possible solutions, and now seeks comment from Chamber members and the public before finalizing recommendations.

Please take the time to read the Wakefield Parking Task Force Draft Report and provide your answers to the following questions:

  • Do you agree with the general vision and policy underlying the Task Force’s approach?
  • How would you assess the possible solutions?  Which ones are most important to do?  Which would you recommend not be done?
  • Do you have other possible solutions to suggest?

Please send your comments by May 19 to info@cwlpc.ca so that the report can be finalized and shared with the Municipality and others.  Your input matters to make solutions happen!

Chamber Hosts Community Volunteer Database

New to La Pêche and wanting to get involved in your community? Keen to deepen your connection to community in the Gatineau Hills? The Chamber’s new volunteer database, powered by Canadian-run web-based software Kindness Connect, aims to help connect interested volunteers with available opportunities with Chamber members.

The database, created by the Chamber’s Community Council, is now up and running. Simply go to https://www.kindnessconnect.com/cwlpc/ and go to “current opportunities” to sign up to be a community volunteer. Choose whether you want to volunteer from home or at events, specify your availability, and what sort of opportunities you are interested in, and in future you will be contacted when opportunities matching your interests and availability become available.

New Tourism Website Launched!

A new tourism website has been launched to promote the Wakefield-La Pêche region. DesintationWakefield.com is a private-sector initiative that has support from the Chamber. An agreement has been put in place between the Chamber and Destination Wakefield to ensure the region’s tourist interests and Chamber members are highlighted and represented.

DestinationWakefield.com had a soft launch in February, with an official launch expected in mid-March once the website has been translated into French. We encourage you to visit DesintationWakefield.com for more information.
